The Walking Dead: Rick's Final Episode Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Warning: Full spoilers for Rick's final episode of The Walking Dead follow...

Hey, that was pretty damn good! And what a nice bit of misdirection during those final minutes too.

Look, I have a lot of questions, as I'm sure you all do too. Most of them have to do with the massive time jump that came at the end. What was that leap? Like, five or six years? That's the sort of time jump this show needed. But I'll dive into the jump at the end.

Yes, little did we know that this episode wasn't just Rick's farewell, but also a ghostly goodbye to the entire running storyline of Walking Dead in general. Because the jump at the end basically, when you break it all down, is equal to the entire numbers of years we've spent in the zompocalypse with all these characters.

Doom Patrol Is DC Universe's Secret Weapon

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

The weird thing about Titans (apart from the fact that it's a series where Robin says "F*** Batman!") is that the series often seems more interested in laying the groundwork for spinoff series than it does cementing its own lineup and status quo. Two weeks after the series introduced Hawk and Dove, we now have an episode that essentially serves as a backdoor pilot for the upcoming Doom Patrol spinoff. That scatterbrained focus doesn't necessarily do the show any favors, but this episode does at least make a strong case for the next big series to debut on the DC Universe app.

In addition to being the first episode to feature Ryan Potter's Beast Boy for more than a minute or two, "Doom Patrol" introduces several other major players in this new shared universe. We meet Dr. Niles Caulder (Bruno Bichir), Robotman (Jake Michaels with voiceover work by Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Dwain Murphy) and Elastiwoman (April Bowlby), members of a super-team whose only purpose seems to be consuming huge quantities of food and helping Caulder perform his mad science experiments.

iPhone XR Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Be sure to visit IGN Tech for all the latest comprehensive hands-on reviews and best-of roundups.

The base model iPhone has remained relatively unchanged since the iPhone 6. But with the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, Apple has moved the entire lineup to an edge-to-edge, home button-less form factor—with the XR acting as the most budget-friendly option (well, “budget-friendly” in Apple land at least!). While early adopters have had their hands on this design for a year in the form of the iPhone X, the XR will be many people’s first foray into the brave new notch-based world. Even though the XR is positioned as the “affordable” iPhone X variant, at $750 it's still quite expensive, so it needs to deliver.

Joss Whedon's Firefly Finds a Comfortable New Home at BOOM! Studios

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Note: this is a spoiler-free advance review of Firefly #1, which will be released on Wednesday, November 14.

Both the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly franchises have recently migrated from Dark Horse Comics to BOOM! Studios. With the former, you almost have to wonder what the point is, given that Dark Horse's comic book continuation lasted longer than the show itself and leaves little room for improvement. But Firefly, on the other hand, never felt like it got the attention it deserved at Dark Horse. With the original series spanning only one 14 episode season and a sequel movie, surely there's plenty of untapped potential in a more in-depth comic book spinoff. Boom's first Firefly project captures the tone  of the franchise, even if it doesn't necessarily break new ground.
