Mayans MC: Season 2 Premiere Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

This is a (mostly) spoiler-free review of the Mayans MC Season 2 premiere, titled "Xbalanque." For a refresher, be sure to read our review of the Mayans MC Season 1 finale right here.

FX's gritty biker gang drama is back for a second season that revs up on the blood and violence, but thankfully, doesn't forget about its most valuable narrative asset: The Reyes family drama involving EZ (JD Pardo) and his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas). Series showrunner Elgin James does a commendable job of balancing several subplots while still keeping the Reyes brothers' relationship front and center.

It Chapter Two Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

There’s a recurring joke in It Chapter Two that lead protagonist Bill Denborough — played as an adult by James McAvoy and once again as a kid by Jaeden Martel — can’t write a satisfactory ending to any of his horror-thriller novels. That gag is almost a metaphor for the film itself, which can’t quite stick the landing after the high expectations set by its blockbuster 2017 predecessor. Although marred by pacing issues and some shoddy CGI, It Chapter Two still has enough creepy set-pieces and solid performances to bring the saga to an effective, albeit formulaic, conclusion.

By employing flashbacks at various points throughout, It Chapter Two has a more fragmented structure and jerkier rhythm than the preceding film. The first half rushes along as it introduces and unites all the adult incarnations of the Losers’ Club -- Bill, Beverly (Jessica Chastain), Richie (Bill Hader), Mike (Isaiah Mustafa), Ben (Jay Ryan), Eddie (James Ransone), and Stanley (Andy Bean) -- in order to get on with their mission to kill Pennywise (Bill SkarsgĂ„rd) once and for all.

Asus S1 Portable Projector Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Most of the time a projector is set up, installed, and never moves again. They’re bulky, heavy, and can take some time to set up just right. The Asus S1 portable projector (See it at Amazon) is neither bulky nor heavy, and in fact it could almost fit in your pocket.

The benefit of a portable projector is you could quickly set it up in a room to play a game if someone is monopolizing the primary gaming TV, or use it for some relaxing gaming outside on a summer night. With a three-hour rechargeable battery life and decent light output for a projector its size the Asus S1 is a great portable solution.

Joker Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Featuring a riveting, fully realized, and Oscar-worthy performance by Joaquin Phoenix, Joker would work just as well as an engrossing character study without any of its DC Comics trappings; that it just so happens to be a brilliant Batman-universe movie is icing on the Batfan cake. You will likely leave Joker feeling like I did: unsettled and ready to debate the film for years to come.

Clearly drawing its spirit and style from classic ‘70s and ‘80s films like Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, A Clockwork Orange, and Dog Day Afternoon, director Todd Phillips’ Joker presents a Gotham City that is unmistakably a stand-in for the hellish New York City of the era. It was a time when rampant crime, corruption, economic crises, and social ills saw it dubbed “Fear City.”
