Catherine: Full Body Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Even eight years after its initial release, there’s still nothing quite like the fever dream that is Catherine. It remains an excellent fusion of thrilling block pushing puzzle mechanics and an exciting love story about the deathly consequences of infidelity.

Catherine: Full Body is a complete re-release of the 2011 PS3 classic with a slew of added extras including online versus, a handful of new endings, a new remix mode, and most substantially, a completely new character named Rin that gets stitched into the story, adding a few hours of new gameplay and cutscenes. These extras aren’t quite enough to justify a full $60 price tag for returning customers, but for those that missed out on Catherine’s twisted tale of love and deceit, Full Body is a temptation worth giving into.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Minor equipment spoiler warning! This review doesn't mention any monsters that haven't already been announced and doesn't contain story spoilers, but the video does show off some new weapons and armor from the early-to-mid points of Iceborne's campaign. Keep that in mind if you'd prefer to go in blind!

The line between an expansion and a full-blown sequel is one Monster Hunter World: Iceborne comes close to blurring into oblivion. While this is not an entirely new game in feel or structure when compared to Monster Hunter: World, it adds a new story nearly as large as the base game’s with almost as many new monsters to kill, carve, and wear like a celebratory tuxedo. Couple that with innumerable quality-of-life improvements (plus a few exciting surprises along the way) and Iceborne manages to hit the high bar set by Monster Hunter: World no matter what you call it.

Gears 5 Campaign Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Editor's Note: For Gears 5, we're reviewing the campaign and multiplayer modes separately, followed by our overall review and score. This part covers the entirety of the campaign – be sure to check out the multiplayer and overall reviews soon.

A “Previously on Gears” recap video kicks off Gears 5, and apart from the much-appreciated refresher, it quickly reminded me, “Oh yeah, I love these characters.” This time around JD, Kait, and Del continue to try and beat back the mutated-Locust Swarm, but this new adventure stands out thanks to some clever moment-to-moment gameplay upgrades and a heavy dose of character-driven story that puts the future of the franchise on an unexpected path. Gears 5’s impressive campaign is conclusive evidence that, at least for now, it’s these meatheads, not Halo’s Spartan super soldiers, that star in the most endearing first-party stories on Xbox.

Philips 328E9FJAB Gaming Monitor Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Philips has been making a big push into the gaming market lately, releasing a number of FreeSync gaming monitors this year—from the super-budget 326E to the costly, superwide, high-quality 499P9H. Its 328E line definitely leans more toward the former, providing solid picture quality at a wallet-friendly price. They lent me the 328E9FJAB (See it on Amazon) model to try out, which provides a massive 32-inch, 1440p display at 75Hz. Here’s how it performed.
