Humble Indie Bundle 15 debuts 'Choose Your Own Charity' donations

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

It's time to refresh the latest offerings for Humble Bundle and for the next two weeks, the selection is rotating out for the Humble Indie Bundle 15. However, this latest bundle will offer a couple of twists. In addition to picking up a handful of games, users will now be able to select which of their favorite charities will receive their money. While the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play are suggested, Humble will offer a list of over a thousand charities to choose from.

So pay what you want for Sir, You Are Being Hunted, Q.U.B.E.: Director's Cut, Goodbye Deponia, and a Humble Store coupon for 66 percent off of Planetary Annihilation: Titans. Paying more than the average will offer up Skullgirls with all of its DLC characters, Planetary Annihilation, Xenonauts, and more games to be named. And paying $10 or more will also include the Steam Early Access fighter from Double Fine, Gang Beasts.

Here's where things get a little bit different again. Paying $25 or more will offer up a Do-It-Yourself vinyl figure, while paying $70 or more will offer seven figures based on the games being offered, as well as a Do-It-Yourself vinyl figure.

The Humble Indie Bundle 15 offerings will all include Steam keys for a $1 minimum. The bundle is set to run for the next two weeks.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash serves up a November release date

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

The sport of tennis is starting to get bigger, but Nintendo has taken this as a cue to make the players bigger, as well. That much is known about the next installment of the Mario Tennis series, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. But the game has also been given an official release date, with the Wii U-exclusive set to launch on November 20.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash will come with a couple of new tricks, such as the jump shot and the Mega Mushroom. Shacknews briefly tried the game at this year's GameStop Expo earlier this month and saw the Mega Mushroom randomly pop onto the field to help give competitors a size advantage. However, that was about all it would give them, as games remained closely contested with little noticeable change. But perhaps the video below from E3 will serve as a better reminder of what's new about the latest Mario Tennis effort.

It remains to be seen what else Nintendo has in store for Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, but look for more information to come prior to that November 20 release date.

The Beginner's Guide is the next game from the creator of The Stanley Parable

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

In 2013, we witnessed the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was employee number 4-2-7. But what happened to the man behind Stanley after his story was over? Well, that man has evidently gone on to write an entirely new story, one that will unfold this coming Thursday.

Yes, earlier today, Stanley Parable creator Davey Wreden unveiled his next game called The Beginner's Guide. What is The Beginner's Guide about? Well, that is a complete mystery at the moment, as Wreden has only posted a website with no concrete details. Unlike The Stanley Parable, Wreden will be releasing this game as a solo effort, as colleague William Pugh is currently working on his own project.

For those that don't remember The Stanley Parable, it tells the story of a mundane employee working in an office building, but whose tale becomes gradually more twisted as the omniscent narrator continues to tell his story and pull out new twists.

Shacknews will make an attempt to learn additional details about The Beginner's Guide, but there won't be much time to do so. The game is set to release this Thursday on PC.

The Witcher 3 patch 1.09 will offer 'massive' changes

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt patch 1.09 is currently on the way and will offer a “massive” list of changes to the game.

CD Projekt Red community lead Marcin Momot took to the developer’s official forums to respond to questions about the upcoming patch. “The patch is on the way,” he says. “Was just looking at the changelog and it looks really impressive - the list of changes is massive. The update will bring a lot of fixes and improvements including PS4 performance (as well as other platforms) plus many more.”

Patch 1.08 was released across all platforms in late July and featured quite a list of improvements to both its performance and gameplay.

The only other details Momot revealed was a tease of 1.09’s chaneglog wouldn’t be posted prior to October. Speaking of October, the first piece of story-based DLC, Hearts of Stone, is scheduled to release on October 13. Hopefully patch 1.09 will also be introduced around that time.
