Thousands of extras huddled together on a narrow strip of beach. Reconditioned fighter planes screaming across the sky in perfect formation. Three different perspective and timespans, unfolding and intersecting. Dunkirk is ambitious, monumental filmmaking, to say the least, but director Christopher Nolan handles it all masterfully, delivering an unconventional and stunning war movie.

It tells of the evacuation of Allied soldiers stranded on the beaches of France during World War II. Close to 400,000 soldiers were cut off with the German army surrounding them, with only days to escape. Unconventionally for a war movie, it isn’t really about facing nor fighting the enemy but the desperate act of survival.

Atomic Blonde Review

In any other film, Atomic Blonde’s rock ‘n roll attitude and flippant disinterest in the actual facts surrounding its historical backdrop might have been seriously damaging. But Atomic Blonde has Charlize Theron as MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton, who kicks more ass than any other character this year, including even Keanu Reeves’ John Wick. That might be considered an overstatement if it weren’t for the fact that Atomic Blonde is directed by original John Wick co-director, David Leitch, who brings to life here the same keen visual eye for stylish, propulsive fight scenes and creating graphic novel-like visuals as he did in that 2014 film.

From its opening seconds, Atomic Blonde lets you know what kind of a movie it is. Set in East Berlin in 1989 with only a few more days to go until the Berlin Wall is torn down, the film opens with raw footage of President Ronald Reagan making his famous speech in front of the wall. But then the footage is cut short, with a couple lines of text explaining the historical significance of the time, before all of the words are quickly covered in neon-green spray paint, proclaiming, “This is not that story.”

Dragon Ball Super Episode 99 Review

Warning: The following review contains spoilers for the episode.

With only a brief pause in the action, the Tournament of Power is quickly back on track as the remaining fighters battle for their survival. Episode 99 had several fun moments and was able to show off how the Universe 7 fighters are handling things while Goku is off battling alone. Krillin’s ring out stood out as odd but was not so damaging as to ruin the excitement of the episode.

The greatest part of the tournament thus far has been seeing the many fighters in action. Episode 99 delivers that in spades with several new fighters this week. Just showing them off wouldn’t be very exciting, but Super does a great job of introducing them, showcasing what makes them unique, and then either moving on to someone else or completely eliminating the character. Majora was a perfect example of this. I loved his unique look and fighting style, but very little time was used to explain these things. Instead, Super opts to focus on his actions, and his time on-screen is better for it. There’s a lot of fighters to watch in the tournament, so it pleases me to see them take this no-nonsense approach to showcasing fighters.

DC Goes Mad Max in Gotham City Garage

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

DC Comics will be giving their iconic heroes and villains a biker-flavored makeover in their latest digital-first series, Gotham City Garage. Based on the popular collectibles line, Gotham City Garage will re-imagine the DCU as a Mad Max-style, post-apocalyptic wasteland where characters like Wonder Woman, Catwoman and Harley Quinn are now motorcycle-riding outlaws.

Gotham City Garage will be written by Jackson Lanzig and Collin Kelly (Grayson) and will feature a rotating team of artists that includes Brian Ching (Supergirl) and newcomer Lynne Yoshii.
