Full Spoilers Following for Marvel’s The Punisher: "Home." Make sure to keep up with all of our Marvel's The Punisher binge here.

“Home” would have made an excellent season finale, but there’s still one more episode left before it’s time to say goodbye to the bloody adventures of Frank Castle. This episode was a shining example of how good The Punisher can be when it gets everything right.

The imagery used throughout was stellar. Frank’s visions of Maria provided more valuable insight into his past. This wasn’t a physical struggle for Frank, but more of a mental one. He wants to die because he doesn’t believe he deserves to live. While highly unlikely, Bernthal deserves an Emmy nomination for his performance here.

Marvel's The Punisher: "Danger Close" Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Full Spoilers Following for Marvel’s The Punisher: “Danger Close.” Make sure to keep up with all of our Marvel's The Punisher binge here.

The Punisher gets back to basics in “Danger Close.” The past few episodes have been inconsistent, so it felt good returning to what makes this series great. Namely, great action sequences and David and Frank working together. The dynamic duo senses that the end of their journey is near and it’s slowing pushing them over the edge.

Watching Frank viciously kill Billy’s henchmen raises a question. How long can he keep living like this? Even though this is a series based on a comic book character, the writers have kept the heart of their story grounded in reality. Their explorations of post-traumatic stress and gun control have steeped The Punisher in real-world issues.

Mudbound Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

The title of Mudbound isn’t just a metaphor, but it’s a great one. Dee Rees’s lyrical new American tragedy gets down in the dirt to tell the story of two farming families whose lives are intertwined, whether they like it or not. It opens with two men digging a grave as it fills with torrential rainwater, a scene which evolves into a perfect encapsulation of almost everything Dee Rees’s characters go through over the course of their difficult tale, even though the reasons why won’t be apparent until the very end.

Mudbound tells the story of the McAllans and the Jacksons. The McAllans are a white family, used to fine things, now living off the land and not terribly happy about it. The Jacksons are tenant farmers who work the McAllans' land, but as a black family in the 1940s, they are still beholden to the whims of their white landlords. Requests are orders in disguise, and orders are not to be refused.

Marvel’s The Punisher: “Virtue of the Vicious” Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Full Spoilers Following for Marvel’s The Punisher: “Virtue of the Vicious.”Make sure to keep up with all of our Marvel's The Punisher binge here.

“Virtue of the Vicious” plays with time, in order to show differing points of view on Frank’s actions at the hotel. The use of going back and recalling past events from multiple perspectives is nothing new in the world of television. When done well, it can add an extra layer of drama and suspense as the viewer looks for hidden clues in each flashback.

In this instance, the effect is wasted on what was otherwise an enjoyable outing of Marvel’s The Punisher. Lewis should have been the main focal point of the story instead of the time jumps, which can be disorienting.
