Supergirl: "Myriad" Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Early on in the penultimate episode of Supergirl: Season 1, Maxwell Lord declared, "We're way past villains of the week and kittens stuck in trees," which was true... to an extent. Indeed, this week's "Myriad" raised the stakes considerably, as the entire population of National City was put under mind control by Non. And while this episode resonated thematically and brought up some interesting points about what the "greater good" means for the world, it didn't quite connect all the dots and came off a bit, well... like a "villain of the week" episode, to quote Mr. Lord.

Even so, "Myriad" got off to a rousing start, with Kara stopping Lucy from releasing all the prisoners at the DEO. I was especially entertained by WWE wrestler Eve Torres making her debut as Maxima, which was a little random but ultimately a fun way to kick things off. In addition to her fight with Supergirl, I quite enjoyed Maxima's line, "I once sought to make your cousin my mate!" followed by Kara's, "Ugh, gross." I also thought Supergirl using her own ship to incapacitate Lucy was a clever move here. (Though, I couldn't help but wonder if that same technology could have been amplified and used on the rest of the city? Ah, well.)
