During today’s Microsoft Windows 10 event, the company revealed the price and release date for the dev kit as well as a game for the HoloLens called Project X-Ray.
During the demo, we got to see someone wearing a VR gauntlet that allowed them to interact with their environment. The stage demo had the player being swarmed by robots, which he could then attack with his VR gauntlet by shooting energy blasts at them. The gauntlet also responds to voice commands as the player was able to change from a blaster to a vortex mode as well as a shield.
The developer kit version of the HoloLens is expected to be available in Q1 2016 and will sell for $3,000. Microsoft is currently accepting applications to take part in the developer program for its HoloLens, although that price of admission seems to be a bit steep for most early adopters.
