eSports is all the rage these days and that doesn't appear to be lost on Electronic Arts. Today, the publisher announced that it would be entering the eSports market, forming the EA Competitive Gaming Division.
GamesIndustry.biz notes that the global competitions will center around several EA stalwarts, including Madden NFL, FIFA, and Battlefield. The initiative will include official tournaments and live broadcasts.
The EA Competitive Gaming Division effort is being spearheaded by COO Peter Moore as one of his final acts before stepping down at the end of this fiscal year. Among the moves Moore is making is ensuring that EA's biggest games moving forward feature game modes designed for competitive gaming.
