Harley Quinn #25 Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Not counting the "What If?" scenario of Harley Quinn: Futures End #1, Harley Quinn #25 marks the first big reunion between Harley and Joker in Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti's run. That reunion has been a long time coming, but the good news is that this issue doesn't disappoint. It says all that needs to be said about the Clown Prince of Crime and his lingering influence on Harley.

The writers make no bones about the fact that Harley's relationship with Mister J was abusive and unhealthy. This issue isn't a celebration of what the two once shared, but rather a condemnation of it and a look at Harley's struggle to move past that dark period in her life. This allows the book to get a little more serious than usual. The writers make it clear that Harley isn't over (and may never be over) her Joker-related trauma, but that she's moved on and has no intention of falling under his influence again. The writers could easily have stretched this reunion out longer, but ultimately the point is to reiterate that Harley doesn't need to be defined as Joker's sidekick any longer.
