Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
Firstly, let me say how happy I am that the origin of Hawk's name was explained. I mean, not only did we get a touching scene out of it (which may or may not have been bulls*** Sarah cooked up to win Hawk back over into the cult - didn't work, by the way), but for a few episodes, at the outset, I wasn't sure that Hawk was the character's actual name since no one had said it and all I had to go by were online resources. And wikipedia already had given me the wrong surname for the family.
But his name was Hawk, and now we know he was named after a drug-induced vision Sarah had during a trip to Peru where she thought she'd lost him and had to miscarry. Miraculously, Hawk survived. Though that part of the story, where his heart began beating again, kind of got skipped over. Which is the main reason I thought part of the tale could be counterfeit. Anyhow, Hawk had to endure a ton of lecturing this week after he spent a (non-sexual) night with Ashely. And from this, The Path really began to showcase Meyerism as intolerant to outsiders.
