Finding a pair of fully featured gaming headphones that look great can be a tall order. Thankfully, Logitech has struck a nice balance between style, comfort, and enticing features that will appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike. With plug-and-play wireless audio support for PC and Mac, as well as Bluetooth-enabled audio devices, this truly is a multipurpose headset that can meet all of your entertainment needs and is sure to turn some heads in the process.
Logitech G735 – Design and Features
Logitech’s G735 wireless gaming headset is part of the Aurora Collection – a new line of gaming peripherals that strikes a nice balance between style and comfort. In addition to the headset, Logitech is also releasing two keyboards (a tenkeyless wired and wireless option) and a compact ergonomic mouse as part of this new collection – each featuring the dreamy new White Mist colorway. Logitech has designed the G735 headset to be “inclusive of players with smaller head sizes – and accommodates glasses and small earrings too.”
The minimalist design is great for those who want a nice pair of headphones that don’t immediately scream “I’m a Gamer!” The build quality feels very premium and features a plush, leather-wrapped adjustable headband, and rotating earcups each adorned with cloud-like memory foam cushions. On the left side of the headset is a power button, volume dial, microphone mute button, optional 3.5mm auxiliary port, USB-C charging port, and the port to plug in the detachable boom microphone.
On the opposite side of the headset you’ll find the Lightspeed button which allows you to pair to Bluetooth-enabled devices and swap between two audio sources. Below that is an A/B crossfade toggle which allows you to dial in the perfect mix when playing two audio sources simultaneously. Logitech has also added braille text to both sides of the headset to more easily orient the headset for those who are visually impaired.
The Logitech G735 includes a wireless USB transmitter that’s compatible with PC and Mac and allows for an easy wireless connection to your computer. As previously mentioned, it also supports Bluetooth-enabled devices as well, so you can use a single pair of headphones for your gaming and entertainment needs. In fact, you can even play two audio sources simultaneously and use the buttons on the side of the headset to easily fade between the two streams.
Internally, the Logitech G735s feature dual 40mm audio drivers with support for Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic spatial surround sound. The detachable boom mic features a cardioid pickup pattern that works well to pick up just your voice and reduce unwanted external sound. It also supports Blue VO!CE – optional audio software that lets you choose between vocal presets or apply filters.
The G735s feature RGB lighting right out of the box, but you can customize it further to your liking with the Logitech G Hub app on PC or Mac. Each side of the headset features a dual-zone RGB ring that casts a subtle hue that looks great against the white colorway.
Lastly, the Logitech G735 headset features a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 16 hours when using the RGB lighting, and up to a staggering 56 hours with the lighting turned off. These truly are all-day wireless headphones.
Logitech G735 – Software
While these headphones work great right out of the box, you can further customize the audio settings, lighting, and more by downloading the Logitech G Hub app for PC or Mac. This is one of the most comprehensive apps I’ve seen for a pair of headphones, offering extensive options for tweaking headphone acoustics, advanced EQ, and surround sound settings. You can select from a list of preset options, or create your own for specific games.
Additionally, the Blue VO!CE microphone settings are built into the G Hub app, allowing you to modify the vocal EQ settings, select from voice filter presets to help boost your audio, or make your voice sound more clear. There’s even a couple dozen fun vocal filters you can apply, such as alien, robot, telephone, and many more. You can also create your own vocal filters and save them to easily swap to later. If that wasn’t enough, there’s a handful of custom audio samples that are tailored for those interested in streaming, with the option to create and save your own, as well as set custom macros and keybinds.
And, of course, there’s plenty of RGB customization options. By default, there are seven preset options to choose from that take full advantage of the dual-zone lighting, but you can create your own “freestyle” lighting effects that are seemingly limitless. Some of the lighting effects can even be saved to the device memory and be used without requiring a PC connection.
Logitech G735 – Gaming
After testing Logitech’s G735 headphones across a variety of games, movies, podcasts, and songs, I have to say – I’m impressed. They are both well-built and extremely comfortable, especially when worn for extended periods of time. I never felt pressure on the top of my head from the headband, or any fatigue while wearing my glasses thanks to the plush ear cushions. They are very lightweight, too, weighing in at an airy 260 grams. My only gripe is that the ear cups aren’t very breathable. But, occasional breaks make this a non-issue.
The G735s offer fantastic spatial surround sound in games, with most of my time spent planet-hopping in Destiny 2. Ambient sounds came through clearly, and I was able to easily discern enemy locations through sound cues alone. I enjoyed the option to remove the boom mic when not in use, as it made the headphones feel less like “gaming headphones” and more like just a regular pair.
When I was ready to hop into a Fireteam, I simply plugged the boom mic in and was instantly chatting with my party. They were able to hear me without any background noise, and after tinkering with the vocal EQ settings in the Logitech G Hub app, I found a preset that made my voice come through loud and clear. For a headset microphone, this really does sound great.
Where this headset stands out, though, is playing two audio streams simultaneously. I was able to game on my PC while listening to music or a podcast from my phone through Bluetooth nearby. And, sure, I could’ve easily pulled these up on my PC, but the built-in crossfade worked remarkably well and allowed me to turn up the game audio when needed without having to pause the game to change audio settings. I could see this being a useful feature if you get a call while you’re gaming, or if you want to use Discord to chat with friends while you’re playing on a console using a 3.5mm auxiliary cord.
And, when I was finished gaming, I could continue listening on my phone without skipping a beat. The fact that these work great as regular Bluetooth headphones can’t be understated as they really look and sound fantastic considering they are primarily being sold as gaming headphones. While there are certainly better Bluetooth headphones available at this price point, this multifunctional headset is a compelling choice for those that want a single pair for all of their entertainment needs.
