DC's Legends of Tomorrow: "Progeny" Review

Theoretically, the 16-episode format for Legends of Tomorrow means the show has less room for filler or wasted space than its sibling shows. In practice, that hasn’t necessarily been the case. Even though our heroes resumed their quest to prevent Vandal Savage’s rise to power this week, “Progeny”ultimately failed to add much to the overarching conflict. This episode delivered a handful of memorable moments in an otherwise forgettable storyline.

Granted, after so many weeks of seeing the team stranded in one timeline or another and generally just fighting to get back to where they started, it was refreshing to at least see Rip and company renew their mission to bring down Savage. This episode offered a glimpse of the world of 2147, a period that basically serve as civilization’s last gasp before being plunged into the madness and bloodshed of Savage’s empire. This new setting proved a little disappointing, however. Despite being the supposed “zenith” of civilization, the Kasnia Conglomerate looked pretty bland and unremarkable. And despite all the references to food riots and civil unrest outside Kasnia’s walls, we never actually got a glimpse of this world in turmoil.
