My Hero Academia Episode 2 Review

My Hero Academia made a solid first impression with last week's premiere, providing an emotionally-charged look at the Quirkless Izuku Midoriya and his seemingly futile dreams of becoming a superhero. The aptly-titled second episode, "What It Takes to Be a Hero," effectively explores what it means to be hero and offers a few exciting twists along the way.

Episode 2 picks up with Izuku rescued by his heroic idol All Might. However, the super-muscular "Number 1 Hero" isn't all that he seems to be, as All Might quickly deflates into a scrawny man. Much to Izuku's dismay, the man he looked up to ever since he was a toddler had an injury five years prior that left him emaciated from various surgeries. As such, All Might can only work as a hero three hours a day.
