Arrow: "Genesis" Review

With Arrow’s fourth season coming down to the wire, it’s high time the show get the ball rolling as far as the final conflict goes. What is Project Genesis, and how can Team Arrow hope to stop Damien Darhk when every attempt to overcome his magic has failed? Both of those questions were more or less answered this week, but the real payoff came in the resolution to the ongoing conflict between the Diggle brothers. It seems Team Arrow can’t escape the spectre of death this year.

Not that Diggle has been a lackluster character this season, but the death of Arrow really gave him a shot in the arm in terms of his emotional journey and actor David Ramsey’s performance. That was true last week in the immediate aftermath of Laurel’s death, and it was equally true this week. Diggle is now motivated by a combination of fear for the lives of his wife and child and rage at the brother who betrayed his trust so fundamentally and deeply. Ramsey was very much the MVP of this episode as he portrayed a character on the edge and taking foolish risks in his quest for vengeance.
