Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
After tonight's Containment episode, we will be dropping weekly reviews since they're not performing as well as we hoped and, coincidentally, The CW announced the show has been canceled. (To be fair, it was dubbed as an event series, so a second season was unlikely anyway.) That's a shame, too, because this week's "Like a Sheep Among Wolves" was probably the strongest episode to date -- although, the fact that it took this long to get interesting speaks to the very sluggish pacing of the show.
Indeed, the big food-drop storyline here felt like more of an episode two development than episode five, but at least it got the characters moving and converging, rather than sitting around in isolated camps. This was especially the case for Lex, Jake, Jana and Xander, who all had key roles to play in this episode. For example, the tension amongst the cops felt like a long time coming, and, refreshingly, it wasn't between Lex and Jake, who now seemed to be on the same page (more or less). Jake in particular had some emotional moments toward the end, like the subplot with the little girl and his partner Paul. Though, in a bit of Prometheus deja vu, I found myself muttering, "Dude, keep your visor down!" multiple times.
