One month ago, Fear Effect Sedna, a fully licensed sequel to the cult-classic adventure games on PlayStation 1, appeared on Kickstarter. Developer Sushee Games needed to raise just over $114,000. The campaign hit a few snags, but finally reached its funding goal yesterday, one day before it was due to expire.
Sushee exceeded the goal, raising just a hair more than $4,000.
"Thank you all for your support and your kind words," the developer wrote in an update. "The coming year will be busy; we’re aiming for a release in spring 2017. Now that we can afford to see the big picture, we will begin working on the full game, starting now! (Well, maybe tomorrow, let’s spend some time celebrating right now.)"
Fans have been waiting for a third Fear Effect since Inferno, the original third installment last seen at E3 2002, was cancelled. Sushee, Sedna's developer, is made up of Fear effect developers new and old, and a commitment to "respecting the work of the original team and the special atmosphere that made Fear Effect great."
