Gotham: Season 2 Finale Review

Gotham ended its second season with a shaky, silly episode filled with ridiculous moments. Which isn't unlike Gotham, though I will say that "ridiculousness" can sometimes serve Gotham well. It's hit or miss. Butch can use a rocket launcher on Azrael and it works. Or, in the case of this week, Butch with a gatling gun. But Clayface can be wacky and "impersonate" Jim Gordon for two-thirds of an episode and it can be quite painful.

I mean, wasn't Clayface told he was a master thespian as part of his rebirth? Shouldn't that mean he'd try to actually blend in more as Gordon than the hammy, winking jerk he acted like? And why even sit there in the precinct once he was seen by Bullock? Why not just take off? Anyhow, I get that this was all supposed to be funny, but it just made Harvey seem like a moron. At one point, it felt like he was intentionally quizzing Gordon on their past, looking for a slip-up, but he wasn't. He was still sold on this "flu-symptom" Jim Gordon. Only Barbara - who vanished for an episode because Butch got rid of her off screen and then returned because Penguin invited her back off screen - could spot the fake.
