Is it better to be a happy, mindless shell of a human being or a miserable, self aware one? Such is the question posed by Harmony, a film that aims to be smart and philosophical but gets bogged down in tedious exposition and leaden metaphors.
The movie revolves around Tuan Kirie, an inspector for the World Health Organization. After a major nuclear war, the WHO has taken charge of running a perfect society via Watch Me, a program that monitors and controls people’s health and happiness to ensure a peaceful co-existence. Not everyone appreciates this compulsory utopia, however. Namely Tuan, who distrusts the system and only joined the WHO to escape memories of a failed suicide pact with her friends. But when a terrorist hacks into Watch Me and forces people to kill themselves (and each other), it’s up to Inspector Tuan to save the day while confronting her past.
