Apparently, gamers wanted a boxed edition of Ori and the Blind Forest, so the Definitive Edition of the game will hit retail for PC and Xbox One on June 14, 2016, two years after its unveiling at E3 2014.
The boxed sets will be available in Standard and Limited editions. The standard set, which will retail for $19.99 for PC and Xbox One, will include the game, a guide, and a poster. The Limited Edition, which will only be available for PC and run $29.99, will have the game, a guide two posters, an audio CD and two postcards.
"Since we released Ori and the Blind Forest, we’ve received many mails, tweets and requests from fans asking for a boxed retail release, so we're extremely pleased to finally make everyone's wish come true,” said Thomas Mahler, CEO of developer Moon Studios, in a release. “We hope that all of you will be pleased with what we’ve put together for this retail release of Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition. We can't wait to finally see Ori and the Blind Forest on shelves.”
The Definitive Edition includes two new environments, two new abilities, more story sequences, multiple difficulty modes, fast travel between areas via Spirit Wells, and new secret areas. Nordic Games is publishing the PC version, while Microsoft will be handling the boxed version for Xbox One. The game had previously been available as digital only through Steam and Xbox Live
