Things have gone from bad to worse on Outlander.
After the huge fight at the end of "Untimely Resurrection," it was a bit surprising to see how well the Frasers had repaired their relationship at the beginning of "Best Laid Schemes" But it's hard to see them coming back from the ending this week, when Claire began to lose their child and Jamie was arrested for dueling Black Jack Randall -- and, in doing so, breaking his promise to his wife.
Overall, the plotting in Outlander: Season 2 has been much more balanced than in Season 1. While the first year of the show was more about world-building and relationship-building than a throughline story, Season 2 has the benefit of the driving momentum being Claire and Jamie's quest to change the future. With that falling apart around them, the season is still moving at a clipped pace as it gets closer to the point where Claire is sent back to the future to Frank.
