Following its reveal of Madden 17's August 23 release date earlier this week, Electronic Arts announced Rob Gronkowski as the cover athlete for this year's game.
Decorating the biggest video game in sports is a big deal for Gronkowski, who lost out on being named Madden 16's cover star when fans chose Odell Beckham Jr., wide receiver for the New York Giants.
EA took the choice out of the hands of fans this time around, jokingly telling GameSpot that "With this election year upon us, we don't want you to lose sleep over another big decision. So, we decided to take the pressure off this year and hand-select someone for the job."
Madden 17 will be available in a standard $50 retail edition, as well as two additional flavors: an $80 deluxe edition, and a $100 Super Deluxe edition. The special editions will include Ultimate Team items and a one-month membership to EA Access.
Look for Madden 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 this summer.
