Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
Pied Piper's big win last week was quickly deflated in tonight's episode, as Richard and the guys got stuck in limbo waiting for a new CEO. However, this turn of events brought about some of the most entertaining storylines so far this season, especially Richard's. Just the timing of certain moments and the way they were intercut with Laurie and Monica's scenes were comedically spot-on.
Even the lead-up to Richard's interview with C.J. Cantwell (Annie Sertich) foreshadowed its inevitable failure, particularly Richard's emotional grammar breakdowns. ("Why does this thing people say?") But the crescendo hit its peak when Richard entered the room and started spouting off all the things he couldn't say during the interview. Obviously, we the audience knew he was talking to Cantwell and not a PR rep, but that didn't undercut the hilarity of Richard's deepest, darkest secrets. I completely lost it when he made an unprompted swipe at the late Peter Gregory.
