Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
The Simpsons is coming to the end of its 27th Season now. At this point it's nearly impossible to conjure up a premise the show hasn't explored multiple times already. Are there any jobs Homer hasn't held by now? Is there any possible way he can torpedo his marriage that he hasn't already done? In recent years, the trick to spicing up this incredibly long-lived show has been to overhaul the presentation. We saw it in 2014 with the CG-animated, LEGO-themed episode "Brick Like Me." This year, The Simpsons blazed new ground by airing a live, improvised segment at the end of this episode. That segment helped elevate what otherwise would have been a completely standard and by-the-numbers outing for the show.
