Watch Dogs 2 expected to have a 'new tone'

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Ubisoft is working on Watch Dogs 2, and that's not exactly a big secret. The first game sold through nine million units at retail, and creative directors at the studio have hinted at what they'd like to do with the inevitable sequel, due to ship before the end of March 2017, the end of FY 2017 (per GameSpot).

Following rumors that shots of Watch Dogs 2's main character might have slipped through the cracks, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot teased a few details with investors during an earnings call marking the end of its 2016 fiscal year.

First up: Guillemot said the game will have a "new tone" relative to its predecessor. He went on to say that he expects Watch Dogs 2 to become Ubisoft's biggest seller of FY2017—ahead of South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and an as-yet-unannounced new IP in development.

Guillemot assured investors that the company would announce dates for some of its upcoming games at next month's E3 convention.
