Nintendo 2DS price drop brings handheld down to $99 next week

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Nintendo has announced a price cut for its Nintendo 2DS handheld that knocks it down from its current retail price of $129.99 to $99.99.

The Nintendo 2DS will still come packaged with a game at the $99.99 price point as a digital version of Mario Kart 7 will be included.

“At a suggested retail price of $99.99, Nintendo 2DS is an even more attractive introductory option for first-time gamers,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales & marketing. “The new lower-priced hardware combined with the strong lineup of new games launching this year and arguably the best library of games in this generation makes it a great time to be a Nintendo fan.”

The price drop of the Nintendo 2DS will go into effect starting on August 30.
