Destiny, Call of Duty, and other Activision franchises could be added to Heroes of the Storm

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Heroes of the Storm players could soon be fighting as a Guardian from Destiny, Ghost from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or Tony Hawk himself as lead game producer Kaeo Milker has said his team is open to the idea to adding characters from Activision franchises into the popular MOBA.

"There are lots of opportunities between all the games," according to a Google translation of Milker’s conversation with IGN Benelux at Gamescom. "We are only at the tip of the iceberg watching the potential of that. We are all very excited about each other’s games.”

In fact, this will happen sooner rather than later as Overwatch Heroes may be coming to sooner than originally expected. “In the early development phase of Heroes of the Storm, we made arrangements with various teams, especially the groups working on new content or a new IP [like] Overwatch.” Milker goes on to describe the process of adding a new Hero in Heroes of the Storm requires anywhere between six months to a year in order to make sure the character blends well with the game’s mechanics.

As of now, Blizzard hasn’t ventured outside of its immediate wheelhouse for new Heroes, but they’ll need to at one point in the game’s life cycle. Relying on Activision-published franchises could breathe fresh air into the popular MOBA, and considering the long list of games Activision has released, we could very well be seeing a lot of new characters for several years.
