Mortal Kombat X #9 Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

DC's Injustice: Gods Among Us comic has had no trouble maintaining its momentum and sense of excitement even years after the release of the game. The same can't really be said of this Mortal Kombat X prequel. With the game's release now months in the past, this book isn't offering readers enough incentive to stick around and see what transpired in those missing years.

That's despite the fact that the conflict has reached a major escalation point in this issue. The series is at least addressing one of its recurring flaws - the disjointed narrative that comes from juggling dozens of characters spread across multiple continents and physical planes. By this point, much of the book's considerable cast has converged on Shang Tsung's island for a massive battle royale. This does help the book feel more cohesive, as writer Shawn Kittelsen can keep his script focused on one location and one conflict.
