Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
Just a quick note to start things off - since I haven’t been doing weekly Supergirl reviews for the past couple months, this review is going to function as a combined season finale review and a look back at Season 3 as a whole.
In some ways, Supergirl ended its third season in very familiar territory. Once again, Kara and her allies confronted a super-powered enemy intent on destroying humanity and claiming Earth for itself. I’ve made this joke before, but it must be really terrible to live in the Arrowverse and know that the arrival of May means some epic disaster is waiting right around the corner. The somewhat formulaic end to the season is a sign that the series never quite capitalized on the Reign conflict in the way it should. However, there were enough strong character moments throughout this episode to avoid a totally predictable and bland finish.
