Hannibal: "...And the Beast From the Sea" Review

I have to keep this review short, as I’m in the midst of running around covering the D23 Expo, so let’s get to it!

What was really interesting here was the big deviation from the traditional Red Dragon story, where Dolarhyde goes after Will’s family at the end. Here, we have two full episodes left, so this already occurring is a nice change on expectations and gives us more of a “now anything can happen” feel to the conclusion of the season.

Hannibal so directly telling Dolarhyde “Kill them all” was a new moment of evil for the character, as he so directly targeted those Will loved. What’s great is this doesn’t remove Hannibal’s affection for Will himself – in fact, it’s easy to see Hannibal wanting Molly and Walter gone as him wanting Will for himself (even if it's still to eat him?), or hating that they are a distraction from the life he feels Will should be living. Either way though, it underlines just how terrifying Hannibal can be. Kudos to Molly for her quick thinking when the Red Dragon attacked, including setting off the alarm - though she still took a non-lethal bullet.
