Night Hunter Review

Night Hunter is in theaters and On Demand September 6.

Though it boasts a surprisingly star-studded cast, Night Hunter feels at every turn more like the pilot for a cable drama that’d be lucky to get a second season. It sets up a deep roster of characters and a decade-spanning mystery, but instead of letting that story breathe over ten or thirteen episodes, Night Hunter cobbles it all together in an hour and a half. You’ll think about what could’ve been and the better movies that may have inspired Night Hunter, but those aren’t the things you should be thinking about while you’re watching it.

Night Hunter follows Marshall (Henry Cavill), a detective tracking suspected serial killer Simon (Brendan Fletcher). Before long, Simon is in custody, but it quickly becomes clear that he suffers from developmental disabilities that would preclude him from being able to hide his tracks for as long as the killer has, so the search for whoever is scapegoating Simon and continuing to carry out their murderous agenda begins.
