This is a mostly spoiler-free review of the first two episodes of the Limetown TV show, which are now streaming on Facebook Watch.
From Lore to Homecoming, podcast adaptations are the new trend that Hollywood is keen to capitalize on, the more modern cousin of book-to-film adaptations. The latest TV offering is Facebook Watch’s Limetown, based on an eerie 2015 podcast about an investigative broadcast journalist trying to unravel the mystery behind a research community that disappears without a trace.
Headlined by Jessica Biel and featuring the talents of Stanley Tucci, Kelly Jenrette, Omar Elba, Sherri Saum, and Janet Kidder, it’s a very faithful adaptation of the highly popular podcast. Limetown the show is about as intriguing and terrifying as its source material, but at the end of episode two, the question arises: was a visual adaptation actually necessary?
