When the new year begins, that means it'll be time to kick things off with a week full of speed runs. Awesome Games Done Quick is set to begin on Sunday, January 3 and run through the 8th, featuring speed runs across dozens of games, both classic and modern. As always, the effort will be a week-long charity fundraiser for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
Yesterday, the full schedule was posted for the week. The highlights include a first day with Splatoon's single-player campaign, Diddy Kong Racing, and Super Mario 64. The week will also include runs for modern games, such as this year's Transformers: Devastation, Ori and the Blind Forest, Axiom Verge, Super Time Force Ultra (on Super Hardcore difficulty), Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, and Bloodborne on the final day.
Of course, it wouldn't be AGDQ without classic games, including ones with gimmicks. The big gimmick runs feature a blindfold run for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!, the aforementioned Transformers: Devastation with one hand, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in reverse boss order. Super Metroid will also feature a reverse boss order run and of course, donation incentives will determine whether Samus saves or kills the animals during the final escape sequence.
