The SHIELD midseason finale definitely was an eventful one, though, like some other episodes earlier this season, at times it felt a bit too busy, with some plot points feeling less well-served than others and as though they should have been held for later.
But let’s get out of the way that hey, I got what I wanted! Last week, I wrote that it really was time for Ward to die, after all that had occurred. And here, we got it. At first, it seemed he’d somehow weasel his way out, as he convinced Coulson to spare him to find Fitz, but at the end, Coulson got his revenge… and in a decidedly nasty way, using his robot hand to crush Ward’s chest in. A broken heart for a broken heart, which was nicely fitting.
