Konami hiring for next 'Metal Gear' game

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

It's time for the latest chapter in the ongoing saga of "As the Kojima Turns." Last time, Hideo Kojima had finally escaped Konami by sneaking out under a cardboard box before emerging as the head of an independently-owned Kojima Productions. Kojima is now working with Sony, but where does that leave Snake? Well, Konami may be putting all its energy in pachinko machines these days, but that doesn't mean it's abandoning Metal Gear, even if the original creator is long gone.

GamesRadar has observed that Konami is currently hiring for an unrevealed Metal Gear project. The job description is calling for "boundless imagination" and "experience in high-end game development."

There are a few takeaways from this latest turn. First off, Konami has previously stated that there will be more Metal Gear games moving forward, but this is the first actual move to match these bold claims. Secondly, Konami seems to be moving towards a "Metal Gear" game, but the omission of the word "Solid" should not be overlooked, since it could be the publisher moving away from Snake and towards a different element of the Metal Gear universe. Or it could just be a mobile game.

Regardless, Shacknews has reached out to Konami and we will offer any updates as they arise.
