Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic deliver another chapter of nonstop action with Secret Wars #8. What this issue lacks in introspective character moments it more than makes up for with spectacle, pizzazz and various fist pump-worthy moments. The stage is now set for a truly epic finish to this already massive event comic.
They say an animal is most dangerous when it's cornered. That's pretty much the case with God Emperor Doom in this issue as he watches his carefully constructed world torn to shreds by a mob of Hulks, Negative Zone bugs and Marvel Zombies. As you'd expect, Doom isn't willing to take this lying down. He's key to a number of terrifically framed scenes where he reasserts his dominance over Battleworld and uses his godlike power to turn the tide of battle. There's a standoff between Doom and another iconic Marvel villain that will surely go down as one of his most impressive moments.
