The Muppets' busy sex lives took a welcome back seat this week in "Going, Going, Gonzo," as Gonzo took center stage in a sweet story about him pining for his glory days as a daredevil. It also used guest stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dave Grohl very well - though the pleasantly smug JGL seemed to end his cameo in an abruptly wacky way that seemed to suggest that - well - they didn't know how to write him out. Still, it was fun to see him claw that poker chips and scream "Gimme that Muppet money!"
The musical numbers that JGL and Grohl performed also nicely harkened back to the old, original Muppet Show - and the use of the Foo's "Learn to Fly" made for a great ending. One that featured Gonzo - who'd developed such cold feet about his cannon stunt that it actually got called off - heading up to he roof to prove that he could make the jump. Prove to himself, most importantly. since no one except Kermit was around to witness it. It was probably the best moment this show's done to date.
