Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
Man, is The 100 ending Season 4 on a roll. These last few episodes have been fantastic, with some of the most tense and emotional moments the show has ever had.
While the season finale is next week, “The Chosen” finally settled the question of who would be saved and how it would occur in a compelling and satisfying manner. Last week, I mentioned how it didn’t make much dramatic sense to introduce the rocket early this season, then never use it, and I guess the same ended up being true for Clarke’s list – with both proving to be crucial here.
Jaha’s been an infuriating presence for a long time, while also being a crucial one – someone who’s often set into motion some of the show’s biggest plotlines. And while it seemed he and Kane were going to finally come to blows here, I do like that Kane was ultimately actually able to talk him down and reason with him. Jaha had found the bunker, but now was threatening to begin a path that would lead to ruin, and it was great to see Kane finally get through to him about it. And their actual solution to the near-riot Jaha had set into motion (damn it, Jaha) was darkly ingenious – gassing all of their own people, instead of the Grounders.
