Warning: The following review contains spoilers for the episode.
The journey felt much longer than 14 episodes, but Boruto has finally found its way to the end of the Ghost Incidents arc. Although it has been an uneven few months since the show’s premiere, it manages to end on a relatively high note, featuring engaging combat scenes and even a (seemingly) happy ending for the wayward Sumire.
Following the events of the previous episode, Boruto and Mitsuki have been pulled into an alternate dimension by Sumire and her fearsome Demon Beast Nue. Thanks to his Dojutsu, Boruto is able to quickly identify Nue’s weak point and bring him down, but still hesitates in the face of Sumire. Boruto stops Mitsuki from killing her once again, instead opting to talk her down from her plan to sacrifice herself for her father’s revenge. The whole scenario feels a little too similar to the encounter from the previous episode, but seeing Sumire break free from her curse and tame Nue is a relief, and seeing Sai extend his help to her at the episode’s end gives this plotline some satisfying finality.
