“Dig Dug” is the first of two episodes directed by the Academy Award-winning director behind Pixar’s WALL-E. Andrew Stanton has proven over the years that he is an astute filmmaker. Even the financial disaster that was 2012’s John Carter wasn’t horrible, just poorly marketed.
With a resume this impressive, it seemed like Stanton would easily knock this episode out of the park, and he did... sometimes. This was the most uneven hour of Stranger Things this season, which has been all but stellar up until this point. It’s not that this episode was a disaster, it’s that the tone was all over the place.
