The Walking Dead: "Guardians" Recap

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...

"Guardians" is more of a typical scattershot Walking Dead installment, hitting a bunch of different stories, addressing multiple concerns, and lacking overall focus. If one were looking for a thematic connector, you could bubble up the idea of security concerns and group survival, pitting the seclusion and negativity Michonne has Alexandria locked up in against Alpha's extreme paranoia and cruelty. It's not like anyone actually thinks Michonne's rules are so harsh that one day she'll wind up as vicious and malicious as Alpha, that's not a fair correlation, but there's still a thread. A thin one.

Basically, "Guardians" has a job to do. It has to get us to certain places, plot-wise. Michonne has to change her mind about the fair, Negan has to start making his pleas to be a contributor, the whole Rosita/Gabriel/Siddiq - er - thing has to get figured out, and Henry has Henry his way into trouble. The Whisperer elements this week are a little redundant, since we learned most of the important stuff over the past few weeks, but Ryan Hurst's Beta looks pretty badass!
