Warning! Full spoilers follow for Swamp Thing Season 1, episode 4, titled "Darkness on the Edge of Town." In recent news, we learned that DC Universe has canceled Swamp Thing, but the streaming provider will still release all of the remaining episodes.
It's hard not to wonder how differently this season of Swamp Thing might have played out if the writers had known going in they were only getting 10 episodes (and probably no Season 2). One has to imagine the series would be paced much more briskly than it is. The show's slow burn approach has its appeals, emphasizing the mood, horror and the slowly evolving relationship between Abby and Swamp Thing. But at the rate things are unfolding, there's little hope of the series actually reaching a satisfying stopping point.
