The Walking Dead has seemed locked in a holding pattern for much of 2018 and 2019, creating the impression the series is building to something big yet strangely reluctant to take that next critical step. That's finally changed in recent issues. The brewing conflict between Alexandria and the Commonwealth seemed finally ready to boil over, only for Rick to do his Rick thing and forge a new peace out of all that chaos. Issue #191 heralded a major, permanent status quo change for the series. And to its credit, The Walking Dead #192 embraces that opportunity rather than allowing the series to keep dragging its feet any longer.
