GLOW: Season 3 Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

This is a mostly spoiler-free review for all 10 episodes of GLOW: Season 3, which premieres Friday, August 9 on Netflix.

After working hard and busting their butts to craft a compelling wrestling show during an era when there was little-to-no interest in women stepping into the ring other than to hold up signs and smile, the women of GLOW have now been rewarded with a paying gig in Las Vegas.

The rub however, for both the performers, and even for GLOW as a series overall, is that their Vegas gig turns into a form of stasis. Season 3 is a much more character-focused endeavor, for better or worse (though mostly better), with the wrestling aspects of the series falling by the wayside as the ladies endure and overcome performing the same show every night. It's Vegas. They're no longer in an ongoing serialized wrestling promotion. They're performing in a nightly attraction, repeating, over and over, the card that brought them to the dance, which ends with Betty Gilpin's "Liberty Belle" debuting from the crowd and defeating Alison Brie's "Zoya."
