As much as House of X and Powers of X have done to reshape the X-Men and their place in the Marvel Universe, neither series has spent a great deal of time exploring the present-day status quo for mutantkind. In fact, you have to go all the way back to the beginning in House of X #1 to find an issue completely set in the present.
House of X #3 finally returns to that approach, showcasing a desperate mission to prevent the X-Men's greatest enemy from being born. In many ways, this is the most traditional X-Men comic we've yet seen from writer Jonathan Hickman, but one loaded with huge stakes and human drama.
