After Razer introduced its first optical gaming keyboard, the Huntsman Elite, it was only a matter of time before the company put optical switches into a gaming mouse. And like clockwork, here we are with the Razer Viper, a wired gaming mouse that employs infrared beams instead of the usual mechanical switches to register mouse clicks.
Razer insists the Viper is its fastest and most accurate gaming mouse, designed specifically for pro-level competitive gaming. Despite all the cutting edge tech and Esports-grade precision the mouse claims to offer, it comes in at a surprisingly reasonable $79.99 price, though it's still not quite affordable as the $69 Logitech G Pro Hero. We put the Viper through its paces to see if it delivers on Razer's hype, or at least delivers a good value for the price.
