Fear the Walking Dead: "Pablo & Jessica" Review

Fear the Walking Dead continued to piece together its morbid mosaic this week with "Pablo & Jessica," a chapter that dropped the Travis storyline for the time being so that it could continue on with the hotel crisis and circle back to Nick. Again, as I've mentioned, I'm not against the show having several different story threads, it's just that the way everything's being dosed out feels too disjointed.

The choppiness of the back-half of Season 2 also works to rob the show of tension. We've actually had a few quiet conversations that have worked well - and Strand's scene at the end of this episode, where he volunteered to take care of Oscar's doomed bride (the titular Jessica), surprised me as being this week's best moment - but the dynamics of actual danger feel dulled. I appreciated Alicia's idea about luring all the zombies out to sea (sorry to everyone still out at sea, by the way!), but it all just still felt like a set piece and not anything I should be on the edge of my seat over.
