In Project Highrise, a building is more than just a series of rooms. It’s a living, breathing machine made up of a thousand working parts, each working with another to generate a functional 2D ecosystem of people, places, and things. Being able to quickly and easily craft a smooth, self-sufficient system from the ground up marks the most compelling part about this architectural management sim, but the one thing it forgets to build is a personality.
Building up a huge, self-contained skyscraper takes time, patience, and a lot of planning. Whether I was tackling one of Project Highrise's 10 engrossing, objective-based scenarios or experimenting with the freedom of its adjustable sandbox mode, the early stages of my architectural adventures managed to stay interesting thanks to a welcoming and fast-paced simplicity.
