Activision and Treyarch have revealed the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will not have a Campaign mode. Instead, it will just feature Multiplayer and Zombies modes.
In a statement published on the Call of Duty website, Treyarch has admitted the reason for this was due to the limitations of the aging hardware. “Beenox and Mercenary Technology have been working tirelessly to bring as much of the Black Ops 3 gameplay as possible to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360,” the statement reads. “The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”
This isn’t the only limitation the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Black Ops 3 will receive as some other additional features, like the new Weapon Paint Shop and suite of eSports tools, will only be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions.
As a result, the last-gen versions of the game will be available for $49.99 and will include a bonus download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.
