Missions: Find water, drink from the canteen, find the dog, and speak with Chumbucket.
After finishing the intro cinematic, you will need to get your strength back up. The mini-map will show a green circle where you will need to start moving toward. Head in that direction and you will eventually come up to a small lake. Pull out your canteen and fill it. Once it is filled, take a sip from it to refill your health.
Now that you’re fully healed, you will need to find Max’s dog. Leave the broken down structure to see another point of interest on your mini-map. This will lead you to the pup’s position. After you finish walking toward the spot, a cut scene will start. After the scene plays out, head to the next green marker on the map and another clip will start.
Missions: Find wire for Chumbucket’s buggy and loot the body.
You will meet up with Chumbucket. He needs wire for his machine and wants you to go get it for him. Head to the next position on your map and you will find a dead body. Search the cadaver and take the shotgun shells. Head out to the next place marked on your mini-map to face your first adversary, War Pup. Use your shotgun to take him out and continue on to the next point. Here you will bump into more of the same enemies trying to slaughter you. Since you had only two bullets going in and one is currently stuck inside another War Pup, using your fists will be the better option for you to fight them. Beat the two litters of War Pups and then carry on to the spot. Here you’ll find the wire for Chumbucket’s machine.
Missions: Return the wire to Chum, follow Chum to his vehicle, put the dog in the back of the buggy, drive to the lookout point and follow Chum to the lookout point.
Before you head back out to Chum, explore the space for some scrap items to collect. You will find one piece inside a tent nearby a small metal crate. The second scrap is on top of a big container nearby outside you will have to climb up on to reach. Once you have grabbed the two pieces, start heading back toward Chumbucket. Once you get back, bring the dog over into Chum’s buggy and put your canine comrade in the trunk. Hop inside his automobile and begin driving down the green outlined path on the mini-map. Once you have reached the new destination, get out of the buggy and walk with Chum until the next cut scene starts up, which will end the first leg of the story.
